Are Holmesglen qualifications recognised?
Yes, all Holmesglen qualifications are nationally recognised and government-accredited. In addition, Holmesglen courses are developed in association with the building industry, so what you learn is relevant and up-to-date.
How is my course delivered?
All Holmesglen courses offered through SEEK Learning are delivered by correspondence.
Is my qualification identical to qualifications gained on campus?
Yes, the qualification you gain from studying by correspondence is exactly the same as the qualification you gain from studying on campus.
Is any campus or class attendance required during my course?
No, you do not need to attend any classes on campus to complete your course.
Will Holmesglen's courses prepare me for the working world?
Holmesglen's building courses focus on project-based learning and include both practical projects and industry examples to develop your independent learning and problem-solving skills.
During your course, you'll work through a series of problems focusing on contemporary and practice-related issues.
You'll graduate with real-life skills that are immediately applicable in the working world.
Will my qualification help me to gain a builder's licence?
Holmesglen's Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) and Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) are recognised by the Building Practitioners Board (BPB) and can contribute towards an application for a builder's licence in Victoria.
If you live or intend to work outside of Victoria, you'll need to verify if your course meets the licensing requirements of the building regulatory body in your state or territory. Contact a SEEK Learning consultant for more information.
Will I get credit for my previous study/work experience?
Holmesglen recognises skills and knowledge you have gained through previous studies, work or life experiences. If you are granted recognition in a unit of competency, you do not have to re-study it.
What are the course starting dates?
There are six start dates a year for each course. Contact a SEEK Learning consultant for upcoming start dates.
What do my fees cover?
Your course fee covers all learning materials (except textbooks) as well as student support.
What kind of resources and support are available to me?
Your course materials will be posted to you once you've enrolled. You will be provided with administration contact details and assigned an individual tutor who is contactable by email.
Is there any financial assistance I can apply for?
Holmesglen's Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) is VET FEE-HELP approved. Almost every Australian citizen is eligible for VET FEE-HELP, meaning you do not have to pay anything upfront, but can pay for your course as you earn.
In addition, SEEK Learning can also provide you with a 12-month interest-free payment plan through our finance partner. Contact a SEEK Learning consultant to discuss your eligibility.
You may also be eligible for Austudy, Abstudy and Youth Allowance. Applications for these are assessed by Centrelink, so you should contact your nearest Centrelink office to discuss your eligibility.
Will my Holmesglen TAFE qualification help if I want to go to university in the future?
Yes, our TAFE certificates and diplomas can be a successful pathway to a university degree. In fact, some of our courses already have articulation arrangements in place to make it even more convenient for you to continue studying at the university level. For the most up-to-date information on the articulation arrangements for a particular course, contact a SEEK Learning consultant.
