Course Requirements

A Prohibited Employment Declaration must be signed by students in courses where contact will be made with children. SEEK Learning will provide you with this form when you enrol.

As part of the course assessment, you'll need to undertake supervised work placement for a total of 100 hours in a home and community care setting. This will help prepare you for professional work in the community services industry in home and community care. Your work placement will need to be pre-approved by OTEN.

You must also complete a Senior First Aid certificate in order to receive the Certificate III in Home and Community Care.

What Will I Learn?

You'll learn how to provide personal care to people in their homes and residential aged care facilities. Upon completion of this course, you'll be able to:

  • Work effectively with culturally diverse clients
  • Demonstrate understanding of the needs of older people
  • Demonstrate understanding of the needs of people with disabilities
  • Provide care support for people with dementia
  • Maintain essential records and comply with policies and procedures, including OH&S
  • Manage safety and challenging behaviour in the home environment.
