New South Wales

  • Insolvency & Corporate Recovery Accountants: Roles focussing on Insolvency & Corporate Recovery within the Accounting Industry performed strongly in 2016, with 75% more jobs listed in NSW in 2016 versus 2015.

  • Midwifery & Neonatal care roles: Hot on the heels of the Accounting industry was the Healthcare & Medical industry, with the number of job ads increasing 73% across the nursing-focussed sub classifications of midwifery and neonatal care.

Victoria

  • Health, Safety & Environment roles: These roles, sitting within the construction industry experienced strong growth in 2016, with the number of jobs jumping over 70% compared to 2015 figures.

  • Midwifery & Neonatal care roles: The Healthcare & Medical industry remained - true to its name - healthy in Victoria in 2016, with the nursing sub classifications of midwifery and neonatal care enjoying an 89% increase in job ads.

  • Police & Corrections: Police & Corrections roles within Queensland’s Government & Defence sector lifted 83% in 2016, versus 2015.

  • Early Childhood Teachers: Early Childhood Teachers enjoyed high demand in 2016, with a 46% increase in job advertisements, versus 2015 figures.

  • Interior Designers: The number of Interior Design jobs jumped 38% in 2016, and - in what some may say is even better news - was accompanied by an advertised average salary 7% higher versus 2015 figures.

  • Aged & Disability Support workers: With an ageing population helping drive demand, Aged & Disability Support roles grew 31% from 2015 to 2016.

  • Developers & Programmers: The Tech industry continues to run hot for jobseekers; with job roles for Developers & Programmers enjoying a 45% lift in 2016 (from 2015).

Position yourself as an IT expert with an up-to-date certification.

  • Consulting & Generalist HR practitioners: The HR industry saw 50% growth in consulting and generalist HR roles between 2015 and 2016.

  • Accountants – External Audit: Topping the list for Western Australia was Accountants specialising in External Audits, enjoying an 84% growth in job ad volumes in 2016, versus 2015.

  • Agronomy & Farm ServicesSitting within the Farming, Animals & Conservation industry, these roles bloomed in 2016, with a 71% growth in the number of jobs listed in 2016, versus 2015.

  • Landscape Architects: Rounding out the top 3 fastest growing roles in Western Australia was Landscape Architecture (within the Design & Architecture industry), with a 59% jump in job roles in 2016, versus 2015.

South Australia

  • Building Trades: Job ad volumes within the construction industry – specifically Building Trades – more than doubled in 2016 (from 2015), with a 134% increase in job ad volumes.

  • Child Welfare, Youth & Family Services: Sitting within the Community Services industry, these roles increased substantially by 76% in 2016, versus 2015 - and also enjoyed a 10% increase in advertised salary.

  • Consulting & Generalist HR practitioners: These roles within the HR industry nearly doubled in 2016, with a 95% increase in Consulting & Generalist HR roles in 2016 versus 2015.

  • Labourers & Building Trades: Hands-on roles within the Construction industry boomed in the ACT in 2016, with an 82% increase in Labourer roles, and a whopping 133% increase in Building trade roles in 2016 versus 2015.

Northern Territory

  • Aged Care nurses: Demand for Aged Care nurses within the Healthcare & Medical industry resulted in a 79% growth in the amount of jobs listed for this role in 2016, versus 2015.

  • Indigenous and Multicultural Services workers: Sitting within the Community Services industry, roles centred around indigenous & multicultural services grew 83% in 2016 (versus 2015). Also enjoying strong growth in 2016 were Community Development roles, up 53%.
